It is important
to create for one's self
a sanctuary,
a holy cave,
a sacred place.
It is a matter of survival
from daily savagery
for one
to be able to seek refuge
from the insanity of it all;
In a place, somewhere,
within or 'with-out'
where it is kinder'
milder;
where one finds rest,
solace,
light,
love.
Where what stares you
in the face
is not a condescending arrogance,
nor hurting disrespect,
but rather
a loving gaze,
an understanding gaze,
a compassionate gaze.
Sanctuary,
like oxygen,
is important.
